Bootle Promise — Terms and Conditions
Version 2.0 (Draft) · Last updated: 3 March 2026
Applicable markets: United Kingdom and European Economic Area (EEA)
1. Introduction
1.1. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the Bootle Promise (“Programme”), which is offered by Bootle AB, a company registered in Sweden (“Bootle”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
1.2. The Programme provides two levels of coverage:
- Standard — a 10-year commercial guarantee against manufacturing defects, included with every eligible Bootle product (Section 3)
- Registered — an extended 25-year commercial guarantee plus seal care, available to customers who register within 90 days of purchase (Section 3)
1.3. These Terms apply to products purchased from bootle.io or from an authorised Bootle retailer, for delivery within the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area.
1.4. Statutory Rights: This Programme is a voluntary commercial guarantee. It is provided in addition to, and does not affect, replace, or limit your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection law, including:
- In the United Kingdom: the Consumer Rights Act 2015
- In EU/EEA Member States: the rights arising under EU Directive 2019/771 on the sale of goods, as transposed into national law (including, in Germany, the statutory warranty provisions of the German Civil Code, BGB §§ 434–445 — “Gewährleistung”)
You may exercise your statutory rights independently of, and in addition to, any rights under this Programme.
2. General Provisions
2.1. Eligibility
2.1.1. The Programme is available to natural persons who have purchased an eligible Bootle product for personal use from bootle.io or an authorised Bootle retailer.
2.1.2. Eligible products are those in the Bootle Steel Selection and Glass Selection product lines, including sets, individual bottles, individual elements (bodies, caps, bases, inners), and Edition variants.
2.1.3. Products purchased from unauthorised sellers, auction sites, or third-party marketplaces (unless listed as an authorised Bootle retailer) are not eligible for the Programme.
2.2. Proof of Purchase
2.2.1. All claims require proof of purchase. Acceptable forms include:
- Order confirmation email from bootle.io
- Receipt from an authorised retailer
- Warranty registration linked to a verified order
2.3. How to Make a Claim
2.3.1. Claims are submitted through the claims portal at bootle.io/warranty.
2.3.2. You will be asked to provide:
- Your name and contact details
- Proof of purchase
- A description of the issue
- Photographs of the product and the defect or damage
2.3.3. Bootle will assess your claim within 10 working days of receiving a complete submission.
2.3.4. Bootle reserves the right to request the return of the defective product for inspection before approving a claim. Return shipping will be at Bootle’s expense.
2.4. Remedies
2.4.1. Where a claim is approved, Bootle will ship a replacement part or product to your delivery address within the UK or EEA at no charge.
2.4.2. Replacements will be the same product in the same size and colour. If the exact product is no longer available, Bootle will provide a product of equivalent or greater value at its discretion.
2.4.3. Replacement parts carry the remainder of the original warranty period — not a new warranty period.
2.5. Transferability
2.5.1. The Bootle Promise (both Standard and Registered levels) is transferable to a subsequent owner. The new owner must complete a transfer request at bootle.io/warranty and provide evidence of the original purchase.
2.6. Exclusions
The following are excluded from all levels of the Programme:
- Cosmetic wear and tear — scratches, scuffs, dents, colour fading, or discolouration from normal use
- Misuse — damage from use inconsistent with Bootle’s care instructions
- Freezing damage — damage caused by freezing liquids in a sealed bottle
- Dishwasher damage — where care instructions advise against it
- Modification — products modified, altered, or repaired by anyone other than Bootle
- Unauthorised sellers — products not purchased from bootle.io or an authorised retailer
- Commercial or industrial use — other than corporate gifts (see Section 3.9)
- Deliberate damage — intentional damage or reckless disregard
- Accessories and ancillary items — leather straps, textile straps, cotton bags, booklets, packaging
2.7. Limitation of Liability
2.7.1. Bootle’s liability is limited to the remedies described in these Terms (repair, replacement, or — where neither is possible — a refund of the original purchase price).
2.7.2. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits Bootle’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law.
2.8. Care Instructions
2.8.1. Product care instructions are provided with each product and are available at bootle.io/care.
3. Bootle Promise — Coverage and Registration
3.1. Overview
The Bootle Promise is a free commercial guarantee provided with every eligible Bootle product. Every Bootle is covered at the Standard level automatically. Customers who register within 90 days receive Registered coverage with extended duration and seal care.
3.2. Duration
- Standard (no registration): 10 years from the date of original purchase
- Registered (within 90 days): 25 years from the date of original purchase
3.3. What Is Covered
| Component | Defects covered | Standard | Registered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel (bodies, caps, bases, inners) | Corrosion, rust, structural failure | 10 years | 25 years |
| Vacuum insulation | Loss of thermal performance | 10 years | 25 years |
| Borosilicate glass body (type 3.1) | Thermal crack defects (see Section 3.4) | 10 years | 25 years |
| Caps, bases, and mechanical components | Manufacturing defects (threads, locking, springs) | 5 years | 5 years |
| Removable seals and gaskets | Degradation, loss of elasticity, cracking | Not covered | 25 years (5 claims) |
Note on powder coating: Powder coating (LFGB-certified food-safe finish) is not covered. Cosmetic wear to the coating is considered normal wear and tear.
3.4. Thermal Crack Definition
A “thermal crack” is a fracture in the borosilicate glass body that meets all of the following criteria:
- The fracture originates at the edge of the glass, not from a point of impact
- The fracture lines are smooth and curved, running approximately perpendicular to the glass edge
- There is no identifiable impact point — no chip, dent, star pattern, or radial burst at the origin
- The fracture occurred during normal temperature transitions associated with drinkware use
Bootle reserves the right to request photographs or the return of the product to determine whether a fracture is a thermal crack (covered) or impact breakage (not covered). Bootle’s determination is final. This does not affect your statutory rights.
3.5. What Is Not Covered
In addition to the general exclusions in Section 2.6:
- Accidental damage — including drops, impacts, or crushing
- Cosmetic damage — scratches, dents, scuffs, colour changes, powder coating wear
- Normal degradation of seals and gaskets (Standard only) — seal care is available by registering (Section 3.7)
- Engraved or personalised products — engraving does not void the Promise, but deterioration of the engraving itself is not covered
3.6. Shipping
All approved claims include free replacement shipping to your delivery address within the UK or EEA.
3.7. Registration
3.7.1. Registration is available at bootle.io/warranty within 90 days of the original purchase date.
3.7.2. To register, you must provide:
- Your name and email address
- Your order number
- The product line (Steel Selection or Glass Selection) and size
3.7.3. Registration is available for direct-to-consumer (DTC) purchases only.
3.7.4. Registration unlocks:
- Extension of steel, glass, and insulation coverage from 10 years to 25 years
- Seal and gasket care: up to 5 replacement claims over the 25-year period
- Proactive seal replacement reminders at approximately year 3 and year 6
3.8. Seal and Gasket Care (Registered Only)
3.8.1. Registered customers are entitled to replacement of any removable seal or gasket that has degraded, dried out, lost elasticity, cracked, or otherwise ceased to perform its intended sealing function.
3.8.2. Cap seals: Caps contain integrated (non-removable) seals. Where a cap’s integrated seal has degraded to functional failure, the Programme will provide a replacement cap at no cost, counting as one claim.
3.8.3. Up to five (5) claims over the 25-year registered period.
3.8.4. No photographs or evidence of seal degradation are required. Self-assessment is sufficient.
3.8.5. Bootle may update seal designs over the life of the programme. Replacement seals will be the current production version, functionally compatible with the registered product.
3.9. Corporate / B2B Orders
The Bootle Promise applies to B2B corporate gifting orders at the Standard level. Registration for the Registered level is not available for B2B orders.
4. Data Protection and Privacy
4.1. Bootle processes personal data collected through the Programme in accordance with Bootle’s Privacy Policy.
4.2. The legal basis for processing is:
- Legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — for claims processing, fraud prevention, and product quality monitoring
- Consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)) — for marketing communications, including proactive seal replacement reminders
4.3. Data Retention:
- Standard claim records: retained for the 10-year guarantee period plus 1 year
- Registered warranty records: retained for the 25-year guarantee period plus 1 year
4.4. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. Contact support@bootle.io.
5. EU Commercial Guarantee Compliance
5.1. The Bootle Promise constitutes a “commercial guarantee” within the meaning of EU Directive 2019/771, Article 17.
5.2. This commercial guarantee:
- Is provided free of charge
- Covers the full product (as specified in Section 3.3)
- Has a duration of 10 years (Standard) or 25 years (Registered)
- Is provided by Bootle AB
- Is enforceable in the United Kingdom and all EEA Member States
- Does not affect your statutory rights under national consumer protection law
6. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
6.1. If you are resident in the United Kingdom, these Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
6.2. If you are resident in an EEA Member State, these Terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence.
6.3. EU residents may use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform. Bootle’s contact email for ODR purposes is support@bootle.io.
7. Changes to These Terms
7.1. Bootle may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be published at bootle.io/warranty and will take effect 30 days after publication.
